Hello and welcome to Class 3/4MS
I am Miss Smith the Class Teacher, and I am lucky to work alongside Miss Prescott every day, who is our fantastic class TA. We offer a warm, welcoming and supportive environment where each child is at the heart of our learning.
Year 3/4 is a very exciting year in school!
I cannot wait to share all our exciting learning together and watch you grow over the course of the year. With hard work and lots of fun we are going to have a fantastic year together.
Want to know what you will be learning in Year 3/4 ?
Have a look at the curriculum maps on the website, which show the curriculum content and topics for each half term. They include the key topics, vocabulary and knowledge for each subject. We are very proud of our work and love to show it off on our class twitter page! Please follow our class twitter page @RPSRadcliffeY3G for regular updates and photos of our achievements.
We promote a love for reading, where our children thoroughly enjoy reading for pleasure and/or listening to a range of books being read by adults or our reading ambassadors. We also read independently daily and answer questions on what we have read, using Accelerated Reader. The expectation is that reading books are returned to school every day. This way we can monitor your child's reading and read in school too. Grown-ups, please ensure you read with your child and ask them questions about the text, to deepen their understanding of what they are reading.
Please sign your child's reading record every time they read and include any comments about how your child has read.
One of our key targets this year is to learn our multiplication facts. We do this through lots of practice, singing songs, playing games on Purple Mash and having maths fun. We know that a sound knowledge in multiplication facts helps us in all aspects of our maths curriculum and sets the children up ready for the multiplication check in year 4.
Our homework is accessed online through purple mash, all children have their own personal login and must be completing the learning which is changed weekly. Purple mash is where you will find your child's spellings for the week ahead, they will get increasingly harder as the year progresses, therefore regular practice is essential to embed the learning. There is a homework reward for those that regularly complete the homework.
Attendance is extremely important to academic success, if a child is consistently late, just 5 minutes per day this equates to 3 lost days of learning per academic year. The children access 5 full hours of learning per day so just 4 missed full days of school equates to 20 hours of learning.
Thank you for taking the time to read our class page 🙂
