Overview

Our aim is for children to leave Radcliffe Primary School as happy, confident and resilient learners, who have a passion for life-long learning. We prepare children to be ‘Year 7 Ready’ by equipping them with a range of academic and social skills to support their learning throughout secondary school and beyond.

Our broad and balanced curriculum is designed to inspire enthusiasm for learning; children learn through exciting and interesting topics to ensure that: children are engrossed and engaged in their learning; know and remember more in every curriculum subject, progressively building upon children’s ‘sticky knowledge’ year on year from Early Years to Year 6.

At Radcliffe, we have a strong sense of belonging and community. We build respectful relationships, celebrate diversity and encourage empathy for others.

Our bespoke curriculum plans, which have been designed by staff and children, take into consideration our local context, builds on children’s interests and promotes our children have a sound understanding of the world around them.

We plan a range of first-hand learning experiences which allow children to develop the necessary skills that will positively impact them now and in the future. Our children learn that, in order to be successful, you must work hard, show resilience and have the determination to believe that anything can be achieved.

At Radcliffe, our pupils follow the National Curriculum. This clearly sets out the objectives to be taught throughout Key Stage One (Year 1 & 2) and Key Stage Two (Year 3, 4, 5 & 6). Prior to this, the children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum in our Nursery and Reception classes. The topics chosen in EYFS are also topic-based whilst building in opportunities to meet the children’s individual interests.
